“I joined Hospital Radio, Plymouth (HRP) two years ago in December 2014. Reasons for my volunteering were because I wanted to help and give back to the Community in the South West and also gain further skills in training to deliver and broadcast radio programmes. Hospital Radio, Plymouth has given me this amazing opportunity and I have been very fortunate in working with lovely generous people who have supported and helped me to learn and gain confidence in “driving” and operating the systems’ desks. Also I have been given my own programme, hosting “The Cool 4 Cats Request show” on Thursday evenings between 7.30 and 8.30pm. My programme includes visiting the wards and meeting with the patients, presenting and playing the patients’ music requests and chatting about current events happening locally or internationally.
I live by the sea in Cornwall with my wonderful partner Colin. We have quite a large extended family between us and am proud to say they are all lovely and doing well. I have an eclectic taste in music ranging from Blues, R&B, Motown, Punk to Pop, Musical Theatre and Classical. I also really enjoy going to the Theatre as my background includes working as a professional Stage Manager and Actor. In the last sixteen years I have worked as a Tutor supporting people into work and as a Teacher training people in Performance and Production Arts. Many of my performance students are now successfully working in the entertainment business, so I am hoping to meet with them and record interviews about their work for future Hospital Radio, Plymouth broadcasts.”
