Hospital Radio Plymouth provides entertainment to the patients of Derriford Hospital, The Royal Eye Infirmary and the wider community through our radio station and Showstage facilities.
We are one of only a handful of hospital radio stations across the UK that have an FM licence, meaning that we broadcast music, news, interviews and sport 24-7 on 87.7fm, Cable Channel 1 and via Patientline.
Every member of Hospital Radio Plymouth is a volunteer, with skills covering presentation, production, engineering and administration. This has been the case since we began in 1969, and we are proud of our history and sustained success over the years. We have won several awards - most recently these include HBA Station Of The Year 2008 (Gold), HBA Station Of The Year 2009 (Silver) and Plymouth Volunteer Team Of The Year 2009.
We encourage our listeners to get in touch with us either to request music, or to give us feedback on the shows. We realise this can be tricky sometimes if you're in hospital, so all presenters are allocated a ward to visit to gather together such requests. We have dedicated request programmes throughout the week - with a comprehensive music library spanning many genres and decades, we will always do our best to play you the exact piece of music you would like to hear.
